Three categories serve travelers on wheels equally: classic campsites (tent, caravan, often with pool), motorhome-only pitches (compact, often at village edge, sometimes overnight only), and sanitary dump stations for emptying toilet and grey-water tanks. This map shows all three live from OpenStreetMap — with amenities, prices, and star ratings if tagged.
The map serves tent campers, motorhome travelers, bikepackers, and backpackers alike. Each POI popup adds extra info such as star rating, power, WiFi, sanitary facilities, and fees, as far as OpenStreetMap records it. Pro tip: the "free only" filter hides paid pitches, perfect for spontaneous low-season stops.
POIs come from OpenStreetMap and load live via the Overpass API. Camping data is densely mapped in Central Europe, Scandinavia, and the Mediterranean. In more remote regions there may be gaps. The following OSM tags drive the layers:

This map shows officially designated pitches only. Wild camping is generally forbidden in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland — only an overnight stay "to restore driving fitness" in your car is occasionally tolerated. Scandinavia has the "right of public access" (allemansrätten) with clear rules; France and Spain mostly require private property with permission. Check the law in your destination country.
This map runs entirely in your browser. Your location is never sent to our servers — it's only used to center the map. Map data comes from OpenStreetMap.
All points come from OpenStreetMap and are fetched live via the Overpass API. Something missing or wrong? Anyone can fix it directly on OpenStreetMap — the map will reflect the change shortly after.
Camping and motorhome trips live on either good preparation or good improvisation. What is the use of the most beautiful pitch if the next dump station is 80 km away, the site is booking-only or the power columns are down? Our map bundles three OSM data classes — classic campsites, motorhome-only pitches and sanitary dump stations — into one view. You see at a glance where you can pitch a tent, park a van and empty a cassette, which lets you plan like a chess match.
Notably, unlike commercial camping apps we also show small municipal motorhome pitches that tourist databases often miss. In Germany those are the typical pitches at sports clubs, swimming pools or village edges with a power column at 8 to 15 EUR per night. In France they map to the famous aires de camping-car, in Italy to aree di sosta. Camping communities often curate these entries in OSM more carefully than commercial platforms — there is no paywall incentive.
The map exposes a single-click filter free only. You instantly get a view of pitches without overnight fees — especially relevant in Scandinavia ("Allemansrätten") or Scotland for wild campers. Important: "free" in the OSM sense means fee=no, not necessarily permitted — always verify locally whether it is a public site or private land.

Edits on openstreetmap.org typically appear in Overpass within minutes. Did you visit a campsite that is now closed, lost its power supply or changed price? Update it directly on openstreetmap.org — camping communities tend to respond fast to such corrections.
We can only show pitches and dump stations that exist in OSM. Coverage is excellent in well-mapped camping regions (Germany, Netherlands, France, Italy); it can be sparse in Eastern Europe or outside Europe. Tag depth varies too: some pitches state capacity, stars, charge, others only their name. Prices may be stale — verify on the website or by phone. Seasonal opening hours are not always tagged correctly; off-season call ahead.
tourism=caravan_site) is designed for motorhomes/caravans, often only tarmac/gravel with power columns, no tent meadow. A campsite (tourism=camp_site) usually has tent areas, full sanitary, sometimes a pool or playground. Pitch stays are often limited to 48 - 72 hours.amenity=sanitary_dump_station entries are multi-use: cassette, grey water, sometimes fresh water.
